Environmental Management & Technology Program (EVMT) Alumni Homecoming Day was held on 3 March 2018 to bring EVMT graduates back together to cultivate, foster, maintain and support closer relationship between alumni, current students and faculty members.

EVMT Alumni Homecoming Day has been held for 5 years since the very first batch of graduates graduated in 2013. Over 55 alumni, accounted for 35% of total graduates, joined the event. Prof. Arthur LAU, Co-director of EVMT, greatly appreciated alumni’s support to the program. “I am really amazed to see the close tie and strong bond between alumni, current students, faculty members and staff on the Alumni Homecoming Day.  We are proud of being part of this big family.”  Prof. LAU said.

Besides Prof. LAU, Prof. King L. CHOW, Director of IPO, Prof. Jimmy FUNG, Head of Division of Environment & Sustainability (ENVR), Prof. Paul Forster, Co-director of EVMT, Prof. Robert GIBSON,      Prof. James PONG, Dr. Norman CHEUNG, Dr. Meike SAUERWEIN and Dr. Peter K.K. LOUIE also attended the event to welcome alumni back to HKUST.

Alumni Career Sharing Session in the afternoon serves as a platform for alumni to share their career experiences and latest development of the environmental field with EVMT penultimate and final year students.  Through the sharing session, EVMT students got a chance to explore career options and paths and seek advice from alumni.  After sharing, they enjoyed the dinner and mingled with  each other.

John CHAN has just graduated last year, “I like the students here. They are smart and aim high. I like the professors. They not only support my study but also personal growth. I like the interdisciplinary training offered by the program. It improved my reasoning and corporation skills. Most importantly, it is a community with a strong tradition that alumni will contribute back to current students and the program. When I was student, I felt support from alumni. That’s why I am more than willing to share with the current students after I graduated.”

Another graduate in 2017, Sunny WONG shared that, “EVMT offers me the interdisciplinary training to solve environmental problems from different perspectives. It is a challenging and excellent program for you to think, to explore and to innovate. I developed my personal aspirations to become a leader and drive positive change to the world from the program.”
