#learningwithoutboundaries

COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in history, affecting 1.6 billion learners in more than 190 countries and all continents. The case challenge we brought to the students at the 2021 Winter Technology & Management International Business Plan Competition (IBPC) was, “How might we reimagine education during COVID-19 and Beyond?”. 30 Students from Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) and other Schools of HKUST formed mixed teams to join the competition from 4-26 January 2021.

During the competition, students were equipped with knowledge and insights on post-pandemic education through a combination of online learning, in-person workshops, experience sharing by EdTech industry leaders and startup founders including Dr. Charleston SIN, Executive Director, MIT Hong Kong Innovation Lab, Dr. Joseph NGUI, Founder of N3, EcoCrop and Jovana Property, Mr. Darren CHIU, Co-Founder, Talent Labs Ltd., Mr. Lavine HEMLANI, Founder & CEO, Xccelerate, Ms. Viola LAM, Co-founder & CEO, Find Solution Ai, and Ms. Sarah TONG, Co-founder, Big Bang Academy. Each team also received few hours of private coaching by industry experts which is a rare and valuable opportunity for undergraduate students.

The final presentation was held in January 2021 at the HKUST. We invited Mr. Darren CHIU, Co-Founder, Talent Labs Ltd., Dr. Charleston SIN, Executive Director, MIT Hong Kong Innovation Lab, Mr. Jason PARK, Senior Managing Consultant, IBM Global Business Services, and Mr. Akihiko KATAYAMA, VP, Omniscience Corp to be the judges to evaluate students’ ideas of post-pandemic education.

Congratulations to the winning team Korrect which consisted of Bruce HU, Marcus ON, Ashley LAU, Ho Ming FONG and Meiyi ZHENG!
